  • Pixy2:  Vision Sensor for Robots

The new version of the Pixy camera is now on robotsepeti.com: Pixy2... As some users may remember from their previous experience, Pixy is a robot camera/image sensor produced by Charmed Labs.

When the Pixy1 camera sensor produced gave very successful results, Pixy2 was designed and launched with superior features. Here are the differences of the Pixy2 image sensor from the Pixy 1:

    o Faster: Pixy1 is 50fps while Pixy2 is 60fps
o Smaller and compact: The Pixy2 has a card half the size of the Pixy1.
o Cheaper: While performing better, the Pixy 2 is a cheaper product.
o New "line follower" feature: Many students and DIY users are working on line follower robots. Pixy2 contains an algorithm that does this job. Pixy2 also decodes road signs. These signs show your robot instructions such as turning left and right, going straight, just like the signs directing cars.
o Improved software: PixMon software has been further improved with the Pixy2 product. The Arduino and Raspberry Pi libraries have been revised, making it easier to work with more products.
o Redesigned pan/til module: The pan/tilt module is also smaller and faster.
o Built-in light source: The direction Pixy is facing is illuminated with two light sources.

    New Pixy                                Old Pixy

Pixy2 has many options for sending data: UART, SPI, I2C, digital or analog output... So it has an easy communication interface. PIXY CMUcam5 can detect and decode nearby color codes (CC). By doing this color solution (it remembers 7 different color signatures), it allows you to easily separate and process a large number of objects that you need to perceive and solve in the same image.

Features Similar to the Original PİXY

    o Small, fast, easy-to-use, low-cost, easy-to-use vision system
o Learn to perceive the taught objects.
It works seamlessly with microcontroller boards such as Arduino, Raspberry pi and Beaglebone.
o C/C++ and pyton support is available.
o configuration programs run on Windows, Mac-os and Linux.
o All software and firmware products are open source.
o All hardware files are available.
